Horrible weather? It's nearly May ;-) Now, that time in
February biking into a 25 mph north wind with hailstones
the size of marbles, that was horrible ;-)

I raced this morning (40k TT) and boy was it hard. Pouring
with rain, good tailwind out (averaged 47kph), big headwind
on the return leg (average dropped to 30kph). So knackered
on the return journey that when I squeezed some gel into my
mouth I couldn't swallow it, had to spit half out! Must have
looked funny, riding along with my mouth open dribbling
orange gunk! I rode well, came second and put in a good
personal time considering the conditions.

Off to a training camp in the morning, I'll report back on
my return if anyones interested.

Ahem - no actually, it was and is a "Selle Royal Soft Ride"
on the hybrid *blush*.

The road bike has a hand stitched leather Selle San Marco
with Fondreist logo which is bone hard though. Probably end
up slinging the infernal thing ;-)

Come to think of it, the most comfortable saddle I've ever

Contrary to received wisdom, the best thing about it
(apart from being lovely and soft) was you could shift
your bum about and find a new spot that you hadn't sat on

Neither did I.

Yeah, weather sucks big time!! Just came back today from
Spain, where I attended a wedding in Jerez. A bit chilly,
but the sun was shinning, and it's a beautiful place. Landed
in London, can't believe how horribly cold it is (specially
for April) and the p***ing rain!!!!

You're of sterner stuff than me gal. After the high of
riding on Fridays gorgeous afternoon in shorts and s/s
jersey I couldn't drag myself out on a bike today so went
swimming instead (after walking The Dog). Not so much the
rain as the flinkin' gloom and cold :-(

Nah, I'm just bloodyminded :-) I think Rob expected me to

Well at least you got some exercise. I like swimming too,
but there isn't a pool within reasonable distance from here

It was supposed to stop raining this afternoon. I suppose it
did ease off a fair bit about halfway round, but I don't
think it ever actually stopped as such. The weathercat says
it's *still* raining.

We've got one actually but Rob has his GLR set up on it and
my Ernie Wise legs can't reach the pedals on that machine.
Besides, it may be warmer and drier (FSVO drier anyway) but
it's *dull* :-)

Yes, and it ought to be ashamed of itself :-) I mean, April
showers, fair enough, but today all the showers were holding
hands and bringing their big brothers along with them.

I helped build a rather large fence in a nature reserve
(conservation volunteers) and cycled there and back in the
bucketing rain. Back was the worst; after 6 fairly intense
hours of digging and smacking fenceposts in with a drop
hammer the downpour and ever so slight headwind was nearly
the final straw[1]. A shower, a plate of steak 'n onions and
some fine scotch sorted me out though.

yesterday in order to visit a friend in Crowle. There was
sun then, and I didn't need a jacket, overtrousers, hat and
big boots...

Yup. Was glorious first thing Saturday morning... bike was
in Glasgow having had HS-33s fitted, so I thought I might
have a go at riding home after picking it up, which with the
odd dog-leg in would be my first ever century. But having
heard the weather forecast I did put in the waterproofs and
bought a return for a Plan B bailout possibility.

Started off nice enough, went along the Forth/Clyde path to
Falkirk to look at the wheel (which is very cool), but when
I came out of the visitor centre after a spot of lunch it
was starting to spit. By the time I'd found my way out of
Falkirk it was on with the waterproofs and a decision to
take a route to Stirling in case the rain was set in and
Plan B looked smart. By the time I was in Stirling Plan B
looked *very* smart, so I took the train home rather than
ride 60 miles or so in the cack. Still, gave me a chance to
test the new brakes and they're *very* nice!

Someone ought to wire one of those up to network Doom. The
faster you cycle, the faster you move through the game.
Would make multiplayer deathmatch quite interesting and
prove suitably distracting.
