Either the article got it wrong or Guinness was unaware of the Tezpur chile, which has a Scoville rating of 855,000. This new one is still hotter, but not by the wide margin indicated.

I bought some seeds for Naga Jolokia (sp?) peppers a few years ago when this news just came out, and grew them in my garden. They were about like tabasco peppers, but maybe not as hot. Nothing outstanding at all.
