The sections of the Worcester and Birmingham canal that run
closest to the former Birmingham West Suburban Railway are
dead spots for both my Polar HRM and my Cateye Cordless 7
cycle computer. For example, each side of University
station, where the railway and the canal run side by side.

However, at 0830 on a Sunday morning, it all works
perfectly.

I presume that the electrical noise is caused by trains
actually in use, probably traction return current in the
earth system. It would be interesting to measure just how
bad the EMC issue is.
