i have a question and i assuming that i am correct but i have grease coming out of one side of the plastic cover on my front hub. i this a sign of a so called blown hub or is it just the seal that may be blown and can it be replaced.

Mine don't have seals. If I put in too much grease it comes out through the rubber cap. I just wipe it off.

the man reason i am asking is because it wasn't there before i went for a ride then after i finished my ride and was wiping my bike down is when i noticed the grease and it was only on one side. also i hit a pretty good size root on that ride and wiped out. i was thinking that may have caused my hub seals or hub to lose the grease from one side.

Find out what kind of hubs you have. If all your grease leaks out it won't be long before the bearings seize.

i have shimano LX on my set with the road tires and performance topos on the set with the my offroad tires. the front is showing grease on my offroad wheels and the rear is showing grease on my road wheels.

The rubber caps are designed to keep dirt and water out. You might want to switch to a heavier grease, but keep an eye on those bearings. If your bearings go bad they might heat up your grease and make it run out.
