Hydropack for disaster kit

I doubt it. The likelihood of you being in a situation where you don't
have access to drinkable water is very very very very small. Unless, of
course, you live below sea-level, a hurricane's coming, and you choose
to ignore the evacuation order... (I say choose because I'm assuming
since you're posting here you have the means to evacuate).

And you can always fill up a few empty milk jugs. They hold much more
water then a camelback. And are cheaper, even if you simply dump the
milk down the drain.

I believe the Camel Back is standard issue for all soldiers deployed to
Iraq. I have read testimonials from soldiers referencing that they would not
live without them.

I did not intend to suggest that a Camelback would serve as a primary water
supply. C gives a recommended figure of a gallon per day for one person.
I've got that in my water heater and solar backup tanks. But if you have
to go out and do some hard work in the midst of a disaster, or have to walk
a long distance, wouldn't you consider the Camelback useful?

In California recently, several farmworkers died as a result of exposure to
heat, while working in the fields. Something like the Camelback could have
saved their lives. I think they are under-utilized.

occasionally drips. If water can drip out, bacteria can get in. Sure,
the risk *might* be small, but several people have died from infections
caused by being exposed to the filthy water already.
