For almost two weeks now I've been constipated. seriously. I'm getting fresh fruit, veggies and legumes every day so it is definitely not a fibre problem. I really don't understand it. I drink enough fluids and it is causing my weight to be way off.
Any suggestions?

My doc said metamuecil (spelling) or its generic health food store substitute - psillium (more spelling) husks. He said normal veggies by themselves may not be enough. Oh, use care, my health food coop notes that some folks may be allergic to psillium (and therefore, metamuecil, I think)

Go see your doctor. Seriously. Constipation when all else is normal can be a symptom of something more serious. Could it be connected to the other symptoms you experienced a while ago? Hope things are OK and it's just a miss-balance somewhere.

Did you gradually increase the fibre, or did you increase it drastically, if so reduce it and build up over a few weeks. Water, you say you are drinking enough but how much is that, I once heard 8 * 8oz plus 1 8* for every 20lbs over normal weight. eg 8 glasses followed by 2 more if more than 40lbs overweight. Also a glass of warm water on an emtpy stomach can also help, ie first thing in the morning. About the exercise, I find if I don't get regular exercise then I tend to get constipated too. Moving eg walking) helps stimulate the digestice tract. Vary your foods, if I am having problems then dried apricots or prunes help things along without resorting to OTC laxatives.
