Vegans don't eat milk, meat, eggs, or honey. Many don't eat refined sugar either.
Beyond that as far as I can tell they can eat what they want, but I think a lot of them try to get
organic food when they can.-Rubystars

Nah, many here on usenet just seem to follow the simple dietary rule for simple minds. Eat no meat,
regardless of the consequences to other animals. -
So what is the logic behind it then?

A number of reasons.
First, organics taste better. Subjective? Sure. But I brought some organic, fair trade sumatra
coffee to my brother's for Christmas morning. He didn't know what it was. He and his wife had a
drink and said it was the best coffee they'd ever had.Remember how onions used to make us tear up when cutting them? Not with conventional onions, any
more. Organic onions will still get you going and taste wonderful. And the fruits and veggies are a
celebration of flavor. Try an organic orange. They're ugly on the outside, but wow!I'm not a farmer nor do I play one on TV. But I understand they use the old fashioned three field
method to replenish the soil's nutrients. Maybe this is why they taste better.Second, the world is a toxic place, including the food we eat. Our livers can only filter out so
much of it. Organics don't use non-organic fertilizers or non-organic pesticides. So the body gets
all the nutrients and doesn't have to work nearly as hard getting rid of the toxins. The key to the latter is detoxification of your body so you live longer.
The drawback is organics are expensive... but far less expensive than a trip to the hospital.
