Got the letter today. I can't believe it!
After 8 months of fighting, I gave up. Then, three weeks ago, the insurance co. sends me a letter
saying with yet more info from my doc, they'll re-evaluate my case. Doc obliges and insurance
covers. I'm over the moon!
Here's the kicker - now the insurance will have to cover at 100% instead of just 70%. They just
waited too long and we upgraded our prescription coverage. Heh heh...
I've decided on an Animas - they're giving an automatic upgrade to the IR1200 with all purchases. No
waterproof guarantees ;-)
I'm off to send an email to the Animas rep. to get the ball rolling. I should be pumping within a
matter of a few weeks or less. YAHOO!!! Now the real work starts...
Here's another interesting thing. I had called a local hospital about getting retinal photography at
my expense for a baseline without a referral from my opthalmologist (he said it 'wasn't necessary'😉.
Didn't really get anywhere. I told my endo about it and she has gotten me into a study where endos
and opthals are trying to convince the gov't. of Quebec to pay for baseline retinal photography in
diabetics. It's only going to cost me CDN$80 to get the photos done, and insurance will cover it.
They're sending a copy to my opthal (snicker).
:-)
