I need a comfy saddle

You could try tipping it nose-down just a touch, and making sure your sitting back far enough and on your sit-bones. I found that the latter makes a big difference in the amount of power I can generate, and in keeping my lower back from getting sore, but that's a bit off topic.

I use a VETTA SL cromoly, but it ain't soft. It's quite light though.

The best thing is to take your bike to a shop and ask if you can try a few saddles. I'm sure they'll do it. Just remember to wear your bike shorts!

I've said it time and time again, the bike industry is just now coming up to speed on the anatomy and physiology behind creating a good seat. As far as I know, specialized is the only company with ties to medical research that makes saddles. Maybe others do, I don't know, but I can say that they've done their research and know how to keep your horn from getting honked more often than you'd like.

One of my friends has a Selle Italia seat with the cut-out in the centre of the seat for reduced pressure on the prostate area. I'm not sure of the model though - but it looks good as well.

fizik arione 😉 ive used flites, rolls, turbomatics, bel air and the arione is the most comfy saddle ive ever used. dont know if its the wing flex or the shape just fits me but 5 hours on it and it still feels good 😄 😄

Specialized +1. I ride their Toupe, and it's the most comfortable saddle I've ever been on; it's also sexy and quite light. The only drawback is that it's on the expensive side. You could check our their Alias, if you're on a tighter budget.

I have the same trek bike and you are right, the stock saddle is terrible. I went through a few saddles (ebay buys and sells) including the Specialized Alias which wasn't too bad. Finally I bought a used Fizik Arione on ebay and it is by far the best I have ever tried. Everyone's bottom is different but I would just bite the bullet and get the Fizik (try ebay). The bike isn't much good without a great saddle.

Trial and error is the only way to find the best seat for you. All the "this is the best seat" seats that I tried didnt work for me. Prime example is the Trek 2200 seat you mentioned. Myself and the couple of friends (tried an tried to give it away and it kept comming back) cant stand it, so I gave it to a guy on a ride somewhere and he loves it. Said that its the most comfortable seat he has ridden. Trial and error is the best way
