I have had a sleeve-less one for about three years. I wear it for commuting. My opinion is that it
is not worth the money. It is reflective, but no more so than any reflective vest that you can buy

I would say less so. and they get less every time they are washed.

What's the point of washing a cycling jacket? I wipe mine off if it gets muddy, I'll do the washing
machine thing maybe once every 2 years.

Was your vest thrown in the dryer or hung out to dry? I wonder if it is the wash or the dry that
kills the reflectivity?

I never machine dry my bike stuff, but I machine wash everything (except shoes & h*lmet) every
time I ride.

Mine develop a permanent stink if I don't wash them regularly, most synthetics do.

They do stand out IF directly illuminated by car headlights, but don't be thinking ScotchBrite, it's
not even close.

My daughter has one but I'm not inclined to get one.

Not a specific jacket, but illuminite in general - a couple of years ago my wife bought some
illuminite fabric and made a vest for our son to wear while trick-or-treating. We accompanied him,
and we were startled to see that the stuff hardly reflected headlights at all. Only when the cars
were very close and at a certain specific angle did any kind of illumination happen, and then only
faintly. It was basically useless.

On the other hand, I use long, wide (2"😉 strips of white scotchlite on my bike, booties and
backpack. That stuff lights up like a floodlight when hit by car headlights.

the label on my coat said you needed to be 10' away. I tried my new jacket and it was somewhat white
but not really reflective like reflective tape. waste of money for sure.

It's pretty easy to re-apply a DWR (durable water repellent) treatments, there are several products
to choose from. I try to spread out washings of water resistant garments as much as possible, but I
still wind up re-treating fairly often. I try to only wear the water resistant stuff when it's
actually raining, so that cuts down the washing a lot. Most of the DWR stuff admits to losing
effectiveness when dirty.
