I don't know of any CMTs that actually work on infants. What I was referring to was an Infant
Massage Instructor, who holds classes for the parents of infants (anywhere from about 2 wks to
crawling age) to teach them how to massage their babies. It's a wonderful thing for parents to do
because it encourages bonding, builds trust, is very nurturing, and benefits the babies' overall
health and well-being. In turn, it helps the parent to feel more competent because babies generally
respond very positively to it. The classes I know of use a full body protocol, and are very gentle
with absolutely no chance of injury to the baby.
Another thing I know of, and actually have a bit of training in, is massage for premature or health
deficient newborns. This can be performed by a CMT in the Neonatal ICU, or can be taught to the
nursing staff or parents. It has been shown to be highly effective work for stimulating all levels
of development and growth. Pretty amazing stuff if you're interested. You might check out

the limbs?
