If you go round the equator. However at more than 60N it is less than
20,000km. So as long as they start out from Lerwick and don't head
south...... ;-)

For £5/day it's not going to be the QEII(!) Maybe they could work their
passage on a tramp steamer. What skills could a pair of long-distance
cyclists offer a ship's crew?

The big tankers have bicycles for the crew to get up and down the deck.
If they can repair a bicycle they could have a job.
