Is there a name for this drink?

Never heard of that mix before, and no that is not a martini. A martini
(unless specified "vodka martini"😉 is Gin. Good gin preferably 🙂 with a
hint to a splash of vermouth (this part varies by taste). But those are
the only ingredients in a classic martini. Olives are a nice touch, but
optional.

I may be wrong but I thought that an olive was part of the classic martini
recipe. Use an cocktail onion instead and you have a Gibson. Use a twist and
you have ... what?

Juice.

In the original James Bond Books (Ian Fleming's), Bond drinks
gin & vodka martinis.

I've seen this recipe identified as a martini in old bartender's guides.
I agree that it's not a classic martini.

Don't know if it has a name. However, if you buy a bottle of each at
,shall we say a low price. mix 50/50 and then put the results in the
freezer for a while. After it is well chilled pour over rocks sip and
you will be surprised at how smooth a drink it can be.

I really do not see the issue here - vodka has almost no flavour, gin
usually has a fair amount. This drink then, is only like having a large
measure of milder flavoured, straight gin. Some might well enjoy this,
especially if they enjoy the warming sensation of straight spirits and do
like the gin flavour, but find it generally to be a little overpowering.
