Why should you be talked out of it? Everyone knows you can't
have too many bikes and just think, you're actually *saving*
Mrs B £100 by buying it. Simple really.

So is my dream bike a poor choice then? I inherited a Galaxy
around '84, that was a nice bike to commute on. The Audax
seems a nice balance between a sporty road bike and that old
warhorse. I think?

You're probably right. IMO the black chainring in the
picture on the Dawes website isn't half ugly though!

have harsh penalties for early payment that can more than

I presume this is some kind of credit agreement with a
bank rather than the bike shop itself? I bet you could
find another shop that will give you a similar discount
off the list price of whatever bike you go for, and
handles the credit themselves on their own books,
completely interest free.

Don't resist,

I got a Dawes Audax five years ago and it's the best
possession I've ever owned.

Just been allowed to order a Thorn Raven Stealth with
Dynahub so am also looking forward to that. Commuting,
shopping, day rides and perhaps part of the world tour one
day? Very minor blip is the five bikes and you're out
rule. I wasn't aware of that but I'm also told that
'ignorance is no excuse'. The hybrid doesn't know it yet,
but it's in for the chop.

no, it was a regular six cheques or six VISA payments with
the shop directly. And now I've got a new bike :-)

unfortunately it will be Monday night before it sees what I
