  1. I'm just off to take Ivan-the-kitten to the vet to get his second
injection. No, he is _not_ going to be rechristened. This morning
absolutely no useful work has been done in this office. I commented on
that to my partner, and she said "that's what happens when a big news
story breaks. Remember the day when those planes flew into the twin
    towers?"

Oddly enough, I had been thinking of exactly that morning. We're a little
strange when a sporting scandal seems as important to us as an event
    like that...

A doping scandal is hardly shcoking in pro cycling unfortunately.
Having airliners full of people flying into the twin towers and the
Pentagon seemed extremely shocking on the day it happened.

  3. Halftime, and it strikes me that although the police in Spain had photos
of footballers & athletes in "operacion puerto" - not a single one of
their names has been released. Zin Zid rumours abound but why the
cover-up? Or is the World Cup (and thew European Athletics champs too
    important?)
    All the best
    Dan Gregory

Cheats *must* be outed and dealt with.

Of course... old cynic that I am about the politics of pro-cycling...

Let's see... and I could be wrong...

The main contenders for this year's Tour...

    Basso (Italian)
    Ullrich (German)
    Valverde (Spanish)

Of the three main contenders, which nationality is the only one that hasn't
been implicated in the latest doping scandal by the Spanish media?

    Just fancy that!

    Cheers, helen s

Give the wee one that is one of your furred rulers a gentle ear scritch from
    me, please :-)

Had my three at TEDs the other week for their booster jabs... Francis turned
into a ball of fur with razor blades attached that also hissed, spat and
bared fangs... Can't say I blame him, he has bad memories of TED...

    Cheers, helen s

Oh I know who has been implicated... but Valverde is the main Spaniard I've
seen as being mooted in cycling press as one of the main podium contenders
due to his form so far...
