If the Maramotte is going on at the same time I ain't going to do it.
Don't want to be around all those new cyclist racer wannabees doing
L'Etape. D'rather ride the route when nothing special is on like I did
the Tour of Britain Stage, guaranteed to take all of the primes and KOM
points !!!

According to Graham Baxter Sporting Tours they won't announce la
Marmotte date until December; although at least one tour organiser
seems to think it is 8th July. There is always the Brevet de Randonneur
des Alpes which this year was the last weekend in June; the same course
(although AdH is optional) but starts/finishes in Grenoble so longer
but more convenient for Easyjetters. I was going to do this instead
after vowing never to do AdH again but La Marmotte is what the club
want to do (not that I will spend very long with them on the ride as
they will drop me like a stone).

Although the BRA seems to only run on odd years so looks like Marmotte
it is. Any news on the SR series rides yet?, presumably the Thorne
-Edinburgh will need to fit around this. Most audax rides have already
been submitted so a bit of probing should reveal what dates they are on
(I already know the dates for the Southern ones just from talking to
people)

I find myself vacillitating between attraction to the idea of doing both,
fear of doing either, and the rest of me just worries about the cost, the
overcrowding, and whether I'll still be able to find flights and
accommodation by the time I'm able to decide what I would like to do!

I have no idea of next years AUK calendar for the West Yorks SR yet. I
dom't see these guys outside of events so I am at the mercy of the
calendar. I was thinking of doing the Thorne-Edinburgh in May instead
of the Wiggington 300 which is not a West Yorks SR event. I presume
it'll be the same weekend next year as this.

Sounds good; That'll leave a few weeks free for hilly training in
advance of la Marmotte.
