Guys, -of course- that's true. I have no doubt that the headstrong Armstrong would have gone after l'Equipe with a vengeance given slightly different circumstances. Hell, he'd have probably gone into their offices with a baseball bat, lol. (what movie was that?)
I'm talking about the side-issues - that it's not safe for him to go litigate in France; that he's retired and could care less; that the more he reacts the more credence he gives the to 'findings'.
Exactly.
Lance was on Larry King the day after the story broke. He said up front at that time he didn't plan to pursue litigation, as he has in the past. He rightly observed that it lends a higher profile to the argument and his detractors, and ends up costing money, which, let's face it, just ends up going to the lawyers.

He also said that because he didn't test positive for every sample that the test results didn't make sense. Do you believe this as well?
I simply reported what Lance said on Larry King. Whether someone chooses to believe him is up to them. Do I believe the statements he said (and that I paraphrased) are true? Yes. Who's going to argue those points? Are you?

France, first world? I don't think so. Second world at best and sinking towards third world. My prediction is that in 25 years you'll find more affluence in India and China than France. The country is on the verge of economic disaster.

Actually, the original idea of the first, second and third world was a product of the cold war. The first world were the capitalists. The second world were the communists. And the third world were the developing nations. In fact, the developing nations were seldom developing at all, but rather just stagnating in abject poverty.
In that respect, there is no second world any more, but you can also look at the second world as an intermediate step between the first and third. Some nations can go up from three to two and then to one and vice versa.
It's also difficult to think of the New World as the second world because all of South and Central America and Mexico are part of the third world.
Hah. This goes to prove that no amount of time reverses a dispute over credit for a discovery. Two years from now during election frenzy, some assclown will be posting that plot on Daily Kos and calling it the Chung Effect. (That is, unless some third guy doesn't rip us both off for the credit.)
This led me to discover two things that suck:
1) Google images: Your search - "chung chart" - did not match any documents.
2) Google images search for "benjamin weiner" returns a lot of pictures of a really sweet looking Paramount track bike - but it isn't mine! Waahh. Oh well, it was too small anyway.

Because L'Equipe reported he did. And if that weren't true, than you know Lance would have sued them for $20 million.
But since Lance didn't, that kind of says something.
So if she floats she is a witch and we burn her; if she sinks she is not a witch and exonerated.
Nice try. What I said is, Lance sues anyone who questions his integrity publicly (you do know his people were behind Prentice Steffan's resignation). Even soigneurs with 20 Euros in their bank acounts who gave 2-sentence quotes get served with lawsuits.
So, why...why would Lance not sue a deep-pocket newspaper which STATED IN NO QUESTIONABLE TERMS THAT THE GUY TOOK EPO AND TESTED POSITIVE FOR EPO?
Why sue the people who merely made vague insinuations, and not the rich newspaper who wrote the most-damaging headline?
Lance says such a lawsuit would cost him $1.5 million....but didn't he forget to factor in that he could recover attorney's fees and win $10 million if he prevails?
Of course, one reason not to sue for libel is the person you're suing isn't lying and can prove they aren't.
The failure of Lance to sue L'Equipe who [allegedly] made the most libelous statement and got the biggest headlines says something in light of LA's litigious predilection, don't you think?
1. Could be. Compelling argument. 2. He would have to sue in France. 3. It isn't over.

The fact is that in Lafferty's glorious European legal system the Judges set the agenda and if they want to get someone for political purposes it's a done deal.
We have the same problem in the USA but it is with the Prosecuting Attorneys and they can be thwarted by a good judge.
What method would you prefer? The man in power working to his own agenda or the DA?
And the supreme court judges in the US are never political appointees either.

magillagorilla. I would, but its been done pretty well. That answers your question. Are you going to answer mine?
But Lance, for some reason, choose to not file a lawsuit against a newspaper that flat-out said in no uncertain terms he was a fraud, took EPO, AND tested positive for EPO.
dumbass,
you said it. this PROVES without a doubt Lance took EPO.

You mean the WADA-certified lab in France said it. I just repeated it.

Actually, you don't seem to know about the original idea at all.
