    Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong says World
    Anti-Doping Agency Chairman [censored] Pound ought to step down or be forced
    out, according to a lengthy Armstrong letter to the International
    Olympic Committee obtained by The Times.

    "That's not going to happen," Pound said Friday in a telephone
    interview.

    Armstrong's eight-page letter dated June 9 was sparked by the release
    of a report earlier this month, commissioned by the International
    Cycling Union, or UCI, that purports to clear the cyclist of using
    performance-enhancing substances in the 1999 Tour de France. Armstrong
    has repeatedly denied the use of banned substances.

    So is that his home address on there, his business address, his foundation
    address, or what? And does he need to relocate/go into a witness protection
    program so Papai doesn't wait at the Starbucks for him, or the Laughman
    jumps out from behind the bushes to try to draw some blood (he's KNOWs he's
    going down -- it's just a matter of time)?

    "caught" in some incredibly questionable tests. Pound's brutal,
    biased,ego maniacal, inflammatory behavior is well documented.
    Why is "self serving" wrong?

    His reliance on Mr. V's report is misplaced at best. Bill Stapleton should
    have known better than to rely on it. He hasn't served his client well in
    this instance and it will come back to haunt him.

    Are you kidding? For everyone but you, LANCE is retired. What
    consequences is he going to suffer from issuing P.R. blasts
    based on Vrijman's report? You think WADA will sue him
    for ... uh ... what? Defamation? Conspiracy? Price-fixing?
    Inciting a riot?

    In the meantime, WADA and UCI are dancing around like a
    pair of elephants playing Twister - this is the best possible
    situation for LANCE. Both the WADA and UCI have their own
    institutional prerogatives to protect, and if necessary, they
    would turn on him. But as long as they're preoccupied with
    their turf war, he can play the aggrieved party while the
    bureaucracies make each other look bad.

    BTW, when you post a link to a bureaucracy's press release
    and title it "Good Reading," it suggests a certain confusion.
    Neither Vrijman's report nor the WADA response is likely to
    make the Booker Prize shortlist; even Dan Brown's prose style
    is not under serious competition.

    But ... but .. but they certainly wont stoop to self serving statements
    to protect them! The mere thought is unthinkable!

    Even though I just SAID it, I didn't THINK about it. It's an exercise in
    Laffertyism.
