    No, I didn't do it even though some friends of mine keep trying to shame
    me into it.
    But the G-Spot crew made a great showing!

    My friend Dave did his third Leadville, and got his third overall
    victory. This was his first on a FS, because Maverick really wanted him
    on their bike. It didn't seem to slow him down much (but maybe just a
    little). He did it in 7:17!

    Carol Quinn, a local grandmother (and mother of an Olympic Nordic skier)
    got second woman overall and won her age group. She missed breaking 9
    hours (a common goal) by under two minutes! That's fast for anyone, let
    alone a grandma!

    Rick, a ride buddy and LBS owner did it on his singlespeed in a little
    over 9 hours on his singlespeed. Think about 100 Miles and 16k vertical
    on a SS! It's madness I tell ya!

    Another friend, Jim got 8th in his age group with a time of 9:36.

    There must be something in the water around here. Or maybe the air, or
    maybe it's what's NOT in the air...

    Your buddy Dave is one very impressive 40-year-old. Another
    outstanding victory for him. We're really pleased that he's
    going to be entering our inaugural Vapor Trail 125 next
    weekend.

    I'm not as fast as any of those friends you mentioned over
    there in gunrack, but I staggered across the line at 11:15,
    humbled by the lumps in the ground I had overcome. It's a
    big danged day, I'll tell you. May just be a herding spectacle
    to some, but it was a well run event and lots of fun to be
    part of, at least after I got off the damned bike.

    congrats. love the herd! is there a way to assure entry besides
    lottery? i mailed my lottery request for 06, but wonder if there's a
    way to guarantee a spot?

    Maybe if you've won it before, but otherwise I don't think so.

    We're pretty sure he's an alien. His wife Susan is one too. (actually
    they work very hard and they are the nicest people you'll ever meet)

    You still beat me! (and many more who actually raced)
    I'm impressed.
    Grandma Carol still beats me if we're ever in the same race. It makes me
    crazy, just being passed by a grandma in a race, but she's that fast.

    Just got the Repo Man soundtrack again - that used to be a favorite of
    mine back in the day. Takes me back to a simpler (yet more complex due
    to being a teen) time.

    I had a buddy who came in under 9:30 this year, it was his 9th Leadville
    100.
