  1. I only made two things last night and both were semi kitchen
disasters. I posted my pie debacle in Wayne's thread "pie in the
    oven".

When I woke up today, I suddenly realized I didn't make dough for
rolls, I'd made a sweetish pizza dough! I didn't make it with the
usual milk and eggs... just water and butter (at least I remembered
that part). Oh, well - they should be light and crusty at the very
least. I'm debating on turning it into focaccia - but I also know
that I don't like focaccia when the dough has pre-risen. Especially
as many times as this one has.

That's always my last resort for errant bread dough. It seems like
the more screwed up the dough the better the sticks come out, which
    is great.

Happy Turkey Day to you and Bob!

Sounds like a trying day, or a great adventure...which are you feeling? ;-)

So far things are rolling pretty smoothly, if you don't count being burned by
splashed hot oil. Other than that, it's all good :-)

I am just getting ready to put in the turkey(s). My daughter made the dressing this
year for the first time. Smells wonderful!

I think I would still do the rolls. I usually make the old-fashioned
refrigerator rolls, so that most of the work of it is done well ahead,
    except for the baking.

The bread sticks turned out fine... I had both black and white sesame
seeds so I put them on top and pretended they were rolls. Thanks for
    the idea!

She's 13. She's always helped me in the kitchen, prefers baking. This year, out of no
where, she decided to give dressing another try (eating, I mean) and loved it.
Couldn't believe she'd been missing out all this time! lol
So, she wanted to try her hand at making it, and did a bang up job of it too :-)

So now that it's over...how did everything else go for you? 🙂

My daughter started off as a baker too. Now, she's an excellent cook.

I dunno about Thanksgiving and me this year! I had a real problem
operating the ovens for some reason. I made my first batch of
breadsticks at 400° on convect and forgot to set the timer. By the
time hubby came into the kitchen to say they smelled great - they were
well on their way to black. Subsequent batches were much better. I
still have some dough left, in fact!

Later in the day, I rescued the turkey off of convect at 400° on it's
way to being over browned (and dried out). I got to it in the nick of
time - it wasn't as juicy as I would have liked, but at least it
wasn't dry. Wheew! Fortunately, yesterday turned out to be one of
our best Thanksgiving meals ever in spite of my tendency to convect
    everything at high heat.

Nephew brought over adult sweet potatoes which he called "The Captain
meets Jack". Besides the rum/bourbon mixture, he did something I'd
never seen before - studded the potatoes with cloves which was a nice
    visual touch.

All in all, it was a good day. Good food, good company... what more
    do you need?
