Ebay, RBR.com classifieds, gvhbikes.com You will get alot more bang for your $800 used.

Just be careful. You sort of need to know what you're doing. Little scratches on the frame may be just that...or they could be signs of potentially dangerous problems. Not to scare you or anything.

Thanks for the websites, I'm sure something will pop up. Do any of you have favorite steel frame builders who create one great frame after another? (italian or otherwise?) Or is there a group concensus on a classic frame, that has yet to be reproduced?

You can surely find a Colnago Master Extralight in the price range... if you can be patient for one to turn up. But there are many other brands that would fall in that range used.
