the lack of a shower is not a big deal. although i only commute 7.5 miles each way, i have no problems if i shower before the ride in and make sure i have baby wipes and a supply of deoderant at the office. you owe it to yourself and your BIKE to at least try the commute, the trivial details work themselves out after a few rides. even when it is roasting out, i try to think that the hottest i will be all day is hammering all the way to work on a quite thick august morning.

Been there done that, it can be done, if you can disipline yourself to ride slow enough. Well worth investigating the nearby buildings for a shower. Gym memberships can be handy, I work in different locations and belong to a gym network, often I can shower at a gym not too far from the final destination and walk in.

From home to work to dojo and back home its a total of 18 miles. Each leg is right around 6 miles give or take a few tenths of a mile. However, I do commute rain or shine and even when the temperature hits the triple digits.
