In my quest to do maintenance at 160 (after regain to 190) I did a great job of getting close to goal a couple of months ago. However, every time I hit 161 I felt I could add a social dinner or buy a can of nuts. I have been fluctuating down here for a while now. Today was my 1st actual reaching (crossing) of 160.0 by weighing in at 159.8 this morning.
I realized at some point that my favorite part of nuts is the salts they put on them. I have been adding at least half a teaspoon of salt to my diet every day. My idea is that if my body has plenty of salt, I won't crave salty nuts, or might even find the saltiness repulsive. It *seems* to be working.

Throwing away my LC ice cream helped too.

Congrats 🙂
Do you like unsalted nuts? I buy unsalted roasted almonds, mmmmm mmmm. I do eat salted cashews occasionally and i also like plain walnuts but almonds are my main nut :P i eat them daily.
I can eat a handful of plain almonds and leave the rest alone, but if I buy those salted smoked almonds it's Katie bar the door. You're doing a great job. You have a lot of self control, I just am not that motivated, long past the age where I want to be in shape to attract the opposite sex (besides which I already have one who loves me as I am.) But I weigh less low carbing than I did before I started and don't mind eating this way, I just am not good at portion control and refuse to exercise.

Yup. Blue Diamond used to make "Barbeque" flavored almonds that were practically addictive. They discontinued the product.

There have been periods where I suspended social dinners to advance weightloss rate. However, my friends seem to always link activities to food. I don't want to be a hermit, and I'm not about to replace friends of 15 or 20 years.

As far as I know, it's quite a natural activity for people of all types to what to socialize with food. I'm sure you're devise ways to deal with it, even if that means going up and down a bit....perhaps not as much as 30 lbs, though. 🙂
