    You forgot about the smell!

Oh yeah, phew! and my mom can kick faster than your dad
can swim, even with his dumb pull-buoy. I won't even
mention how you look in a Speedo because I don't want to
    be called a bully.

Well...judging from his behaviour here...what more proof do
you need to understand that such diets really cause
permanent brain damage. The guy is beyond hope!

  4. The site is pretty anal. Gotta watch who you offend or they will toss you

  5. I think I'll go overboard, lose my cool, rant, rave,
whatever. But I've really had up to wherever with Atkins,
    glycemics, carbos, fats, [censored],
s..t, and all the rest. You're all a bunch of fat slobs who
can't keep your stuffed fists out of your full mouths, all
looking for some magic, preferably quasi-scientific, fake,
worthless, special, scheme, that will permit you to
continue pigging out without showing it. The solution is
simple and requires no formulae, theories, or other
nonsense, no action at all. Stop stuffing yourselves.
You're disgusting, you look awful, and you sound worse.

Do you mean you are leaving too?

    Victory is mine!

Did you hear about the latest Atkins study? Though
comparing well to low fat diets at 6 months, by 12 months
they had gained the difference back.

The early studies showed the same thing. Obviously, if you
like high glycemic foods and you tend to carry extra
weight, then when you eat high glycemic foods you will
gain weight. I have the same problem. I really like
cookies, and no matter how much weight I lose on any diet,
I will still really like cookies. To crib a line from AA:
"It is cookie-ism, not cookie-wasm." If you like cookies,
    you never stop liking cookies.

But that says nothing about low carb dieting. Low carb
dieting works. That's why I'm doing it again. Except that
I'm not doing it this week because I have a 165km bike
    race on Sunday.

It only takes a few carb meals to charge myself with carbs.
The body makes its own carbs anyway, so the need for
ingesting them is exaggerated. The record for this race is
3:58 something, I think, so the stored carbs will be gone
before the race is half over anyway. If I can get close to
five hours, I will be over the moon.

The concept of the low carb diet is that it stabilizes blood
sugar at a lower level than on a high glycemic carb diet,
which in turn stabilizes the insulin level. With stabilized
insulin and blood sugar, hunger and cravings are
significantly reduced, thus making not eating easier.

It is wonderful that you aren't bothered by the problem, but
a lot of people are, and they appreciate having this tool in
their arsenal. It works, and, as you say, it isn't magic.

This might be OK for swimming, but I'm sure you will suffer
in your 165km bike race. Especially if some mountains /
    hills are there...

I suffer in swimming too. My only problem in riding that far
is dehyration, but I bought a 3 liter Camalback "Unbottle"
this time, so I think I will be ok.

How nice, a thread of my Usenet pet peeves.

    1. People threatening to leave because of another, named
    poster.
    2. People posting Usenet messages accusing other posters
of not having lives or real friends, the evidence being
    their posting messages to Usenet.
    3. People begging people threatening to leave to stay,
telling them that the guy making them leave is a jerk,
but not to let the jerks win.
    4. People flaunting their kill files or *plonk*ing,
    claiming intellectual superiority.

You don't like someone? Fine, killfile him or her and shut
    up about
it. Where's the catch? You wanna hang out with your real
friends instead of wasting your time with Usenet
losers? Fine, stop reading/posting, but don't blame it
on someone else, turning it into martyrdom.

Well said. Tantrums are never edifying things, and on usent
they provide a classic piece of absurdism.

Anyhow, Martin's a reasonable fellow, IMO. At least he
starts by argueing the point rather than the person,
    whenever I've followed his posts.
