If the OP lives in an area where there is little or no jewish
population it's entirely possible he's never heard of matzoh. It's also
spelled "matzoh."

I agree. I grew up in a small town in Nebraska and never heard of
matzoh, or bagels, or lox, or, well lots of things, until I moved to the
big city.

A few years ago I was working in Minneapolis with a Texan. It was just
before Easter and I was craving matzo. (Even though we were Catholic we
always had matzo in the house around Lent.) My Texan friend thought they
were a NY thing (I am a NYer) and had no idea of what they were. I thought
everyone knew what they were.

A few months later we were in Colorado. He ordered Rocky Mountain Oysters
one night. Even after he explained what they were I gave them a try. Okay, I
would eat them on a dare, but I'd rather have some matzo.
