  1. Hey guys and girls, I've been looking through the forum to try and find something along the lines of this but couldn't find anything!

I'm looking for some help with a meal plan. I recently got back into cycling after being off the bike for roughly 2 years due to injury and in that space of time I inevitably put on weight. So, I was wondering if anyone has a strict meal and/or training plan they used to get back into peak form and lose weight that they wouldn't mind putting up here for me and others in my position to use and learn from.

    Thanks for any feedback :-)

I don't follow a really strict diet, but I do eat quite a few eggs. They really help me. Drinking plenty of water is common sense, but lots of people forget to do it. Maybe the link will help you out. I also like to add in a multivitamin to my daily plan. I also take actigin for endurance and beast creature for creatine.

  3. There's going to be so much variation in what's "right" depending on age, weight, how active you are not only as a rider, but in your general day to day life.

Also, as with just about with every other issue, both trivial and important, weird ideological fissures develop around disagreements, and it's hard to get rational discussion about these topics.

Personally speaking, I recommend getting as much natural, organic food as possible, minimally processed.

Of course, there will be rebuttals from those who say being a vegeterian or raw are weird cults. Strange how advocating eating the healthiest foods generates the most hatred and name-calling but that's the topsy turvy dark world we live in these days.

    Best of luck to ya!

This is true, everyones an expert when it comes to diet and driving cars. You're on the right track with natural, organic and minimally processed food.

  6. BIG LIKE on this.
even if you decide to take supplement
use green stuff, avoid processed/preservatives/additives supplements

  7. Okay, okay, I'm not a nutritionist, I don't pretend to be, but I think you should stick with eating a reasonable amount of healthy food. Don't force yourself to eat junk food, but now there is fat, because it's just too nasty (then again, it isn't good for you). Instead, try to eat a healthy and balanced as possible. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruit, whole grains and lean protein with a good part, is like a game (fill in your plate was going to shoot it as a "health food" ) Natural Vitiligo Treatment.

  8. Water, water, and WATER. You will need liquids to fuel your body's needs. Being dehydrated during a bike ride is possibly the worst feelings ever. Other than that, focus on eating vegetables and protein. I usually eat 2-3 eggs in the morning, and more protein later in the day. Just remember, DRINK WATER!

  9. I don’t have a specific meal plan but I practice the three concepts to a healthy diet. These are moderation, variety and balance. We should eat varied foods for a complete source of all nutrients. A moderation in eating some foods like fats and oils and sweets and balance as we refer to the food pyramid.

  10. It is always better to eat healthy food. Eating processed food definitely does not help and is not really useful.

  11. I try to eat what would be considered a lower carb diet (though not THAT low) and avoid simple carbs. I pretty much stick to whole grains I have prepared myself with the exception of a few treats now and then. Protein and healthy fats are really important for fuelling your training as they build muscle and fat burns slower than carbs, giving you longer lasting energy for your training.

Contrary to some diet advice, eating a higher fat diet, if they are healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil, raw cheese, avocado, nuts ect, is actually good for weight loss because they keep you full and fuelled longer than if you ate less fat and more carbs.

I agree. Most people in endurance sports consume way too much carbs containing high fructose and refined sugar. You want to train your body in burning fats instead of sugar. You want a healthy ratio of fats, carbs and protein in your diet. You can still include carbs but choose whole foods and low glycemic type of carbs.

  13. Creating a meal plan is difficult trust me I've been in this situation before. But the number one thing that you have to realize is that staying on track with the mill plan is the most difficult part. Actually creating the plan is not difficult in the least bit but making sure that you continue with it that's the difficult part.

  14. I think culturally speaking, people and our government has advocated for 3 square meals a day. I don't follow or believe this at all. When you need energy your body will tell you when you are hungry. If you know what is a healthy diet, then I'd say help your self to it when you feel like it. I know of athletes that eat several times a day because they have high metabolisms and need the extra calories.

I'm an advocate for non gmo animal protein and organic raw veggies. I eat it all the time and mass quantities and I am losing fat. I don't hold back I just stuff my face.

This can be applied to all facets of life even cycling.

You are absolutely right about that. Your body will tell you when it needs fuel. If you are hungry then eat something healthy and drink a lot of water.

Yup, if you feel like you need some fuel, just chug down a lot of water, and stuff yourself with a lot of veggies and meat. I don't hold back when I eat because I know it's healthy foods.
