I have a question regarding the FSA's MegaExo vs. Shimano's outboard-bearing bottom bracket. Are they interchangeable? I ask this question because I'm looking at purchasing FSA's new SL-K integrated crankset, but my frame takes Italian threaded BBs. FSA's web site does not show any Italian threaded BBs for MegaExo. Can I use Shimano's BB instead?

FSA lists their MegaExo cranksets as available in: "BB Cups - BC-1.37" x 68mm or M36 x 70mm"
Not postitive that's what they mean; but isn't M36 x 70mm normally associated with Italian threads?

I guess FSA has updated their website since last time I visited. I believe M36 x 70mm is Italian thread. My question still stands though, are FSA and Shimano outboard BBs compatiple? Are any outboard BBs for that matter? Even mountain BBs that have integrated crank spindles? Race Face, FSA, Shimano, Bontrager, etc. all have these new BBs, but are any of them interchangeable with one another?

I don't know if their compatible, but if they are Shimano will most likely consider it either a patent infringment or a design flaw.
