  1. Does this make sense?

    Eckerd:

    METFORMIN TAB 500MG Generic Price: $9.10 (30 units) $24.50
    (100 units)

    www2.eckerd.comdruglist.asp
    rch=M&GPI_No=27250050000320&GPI_Desc=METFORMIN&Ind=Y

    CVS:

    METFORMIN HCL 500MG TABLET

    Quantity: 30 Price: $21.69 Quantity: 60 Price: $40.59
    Quantity: 90 Price: $60.59

Incredible. I have to re-fill soon, and the last time I
topped up it was ~$100C($70US) for 600 Novo 500MG's. Maybe
the price you saw was a typo?

  3. I must add this, I don't use CVS because they are the
    highest priced pharmacy around.

I found target pharmacy has the best price in my area
    90 tablets metformin 500 mg for 19.75 30 tablets
    Lipitor 10 mg for 57.90 30 tablets Mavik 4 mg for 39.50
    30 tablets Allopurinal 300mg for 6.34 30 tablets
    carbidopa/levadopa for 12.95

Compared to the prices at Walgreen's that I was paying 90
    tablets metfgormin 46.90 30 tablets lipitor 89.26 30 tablets
    Mavik 98.50 30 tablets allopurinal for 12.50 30 tablets
    carbidopa/levadopa for 21.50.

So I does make a difference in the pharmacy you use. I was
very shocked at how Walgreen's prices were so far out of
line. I have never used CVS they bought out Big-b Drugs I
used to work for them, then worked for Harco Drug stores who
were bought out by Right aid, I know how those 2 pharmacy
chains do business and I want nothing to do with them.

I am going to check into Cosco we got one a week ago about
40 miles up the road. I hear they have very low prices.

  4. If it is a typo it is a typo on the website. I posted
the links to the pages. I hate to see people throw good
    money away.

    Here are a couple more:

    Walgreens:

    METFORMIN 500MG TABLETS 100 EA $39.99

    METFORMIN 1000MG TABLETS 100 EA $79.99 METFORMIN 850MG
TABLETS 100 EA $73.39 METFORMIN ER 500MG TABLETS 100 EA
    $69.99

    walgreens.comdruginfo.jhtml
    ARGS=/library/finddrug/druginfo.jhtml.1_A&_DAV=18270

    Drugstore.com:

    Metformin HCl tablets 500MG (60) $33.99 (100) $56.65

    drugstore.comdrugprice.asp
    00172433160&trx=1Z5013

How can the same product have such extreme differences
    in prices?

Plus any insurance carrier footing the bill will pass the
cost on to other policy holders. This is all pretty
disgusting, gouging sick people that way.

you might like to also consider the actual cost is
    approximately 4c a tablet.

2.5 pence in British money, which is what our NHS pays for
them. The profiteering in the US is outrageous.
