    I called Mezzetta and asked them to see if a jar of grape leaves was
    any good any more. I gave them the code on the jar. The nice woman
    on the other end said they could either call me back with an answer,
    or if I wanted to email the code to her, they'd let me know in
    email. I emailed, and they responded within an hour. Here was
    their response, along with some marketing speak at the end of the
    email.

    Just wanted to let y'all know what quick and helpful service they
    provided. They're a local company to me, and I like that they care
    about getting back to people quickly.

    "Dear Ms. Vannoy,

    Thank you for calling and emailing the information to me about the
    Mezzetta Brand Grape Leaves. According to the production code that
    you have provided, this product has expired and we would suggest
    that you dispose of it. If you provide me with your mailing
    address, I would be happy to mail a reimbursement coupon."

    Yeah. I declined their offer of a replacement jar, since it's not
    their fault that I left it in the cupboard for however many years it
    was their, and assured them that I like their products and intend to
    continue using them.

    Their bottled grape leaves are *really* tough and stringy. I
    made the mistake of using them for pot luck dish once, and threw
    everything away after I was done making it.

    But their Pepperoncini with Garlic and Dill, and pickled
    habaneros are a staple in my house.

    Good to know. I will try a different brand before I pick up another
    bottle of theirs.

    These are by far the best brand of ASO I've tried. And I've
    tried them all!

    the habaneros are packed in is also great.

    A favorite here is Mezetta's garlic stuffed olives in the chardonnay
    mix.

    it gets dry.

    The vinegar their capers are packed in
    is also quite tasty. I believe they
    offer the capers in both plain vinegar
    and balsamic. I'm referring to the
    plain. I don't think I've tried the
    balsamic.
