Dunno about the cyclocross part, but Moultons are considered very good
for touring & audax-length rides. The main need-to-know is "have you
consulted your bank manager?", esp if you're considering a New Series.
Also if you like Moultons it's unusual to have just one, I have 2, but
5+ is quite common. Manufacturer support is very good (for bikes back
to 1983), and there's also (what is believed to be) the world's largest
one-make bicycle club as backup.

It's an alternative to my recumbent: better in traffic, easier to get
into the boot of a car, but not as fast, not as comfortable for a long
ride, not as stable carrying a week's food shopping. Doesn't get five
year olds saying "I like your bike" (as happened this evening).

That must be nice. Usually when people say they like my mountain bike
they're about to try nicking it... (:

Have one or three, including one since 1966! I occasionally ride other bikes
and am always glad to return to my Moultons. Have you also seen/tried the
new Bridgestone Moulton? F frame like the originals, but a very modern
interpretation. About 1600 squid. Cheapest are the Pashley built ones, and
you could also consider s/h. There's a sales and wants list on the
Moultoneers site.

Have a look at the foldsoc website for information and links to Moulton
specific stuff. At that price range, worth looking at the Airnimal and
Bike Friday too.

Very nice shop. They know their Bromptons too. Good for repairs and
getting bits for Brommies. They charged next to nothing for swapping the
chain rings between two Bromptons to regear them.
