I just got this one put together.
I pulled the brake from the Goiter (I have another that will go back on
it as soon as I replace the cross-over and main lines with braided
lines). Magura provided the stainless cross-over, but I installed the
flexible Hope braided line with Goodridge fittings. This flexibility
allows me to wrap it around the post once, so I can adjust my seatpost
height as needed when I change crank lengths. As many of you know, the
rigid stock Magura line isn't as forgiving.
I received 3 Conundrum frames a couple weeks ago. I built up the 24"
show uni with a KH hub and cranks. I built the 26" show model with a
Profile hub and cranks. And, mine is built with a Suzue hub and Sugino
forged cranks. All the hub and crank combos worked well in our frames.
I'm very happy about that, of course.
We will offer the Conundra (plural of Conundrum) in two options: as
frames only and as custom builds through Quality Bicycle Products...our
distributor and parent company. Your local bike shop can order a
custom uni for you. QBP's BikeBuilder department offers this service
with all of our bicycle framesets, and they are very qualified to put
together a uni to your specifications. I'm working, now, to establish
relationships with uni components vendors, so I can put together a
"unicycle section" in the QBP wholesale catalog. Magura will provide
brakes to us for custom builds on an OE basis. I'll have QBP's disc
brake gurus change all the Magura lines to Goodridge or Hope braided
stuff, so shops and customers won't have to do it. Some folks may want
to shorten the main line, however. All main lines will be cut to 24"
and wrapped around the seatpost once. There's no easy way to provide
the perfect length of brake line for every person's needs, so this
seems like the most logical thing to do. Luckily, shortening lines and
bleeding Magura brakes is pretty easy.
I attached a picture of the investment cast bearing clamp. We decided
to add a little traditionalism to this modern uni.
