My rig

Ahh, I can't keep this up any longer!! Alas that is not my bike. I sa
the photo on ebay yesterday under some dodgy auction for $2400, clearl
a fraudulent one. If I had a lazy 10k lying around, I would certainl
get one though. For what it's worth, here is my actual rig. Trek 520
with D/A and Ultegra. cheers shan

Nice bike braso. How much was the paint job

The seatpost is interesting, i've never seen one like that before wit
the bend in it. Looks as though there is no setback at the top though t
compensate

You can add a link to an image by putting in the URL as you jus
mentioned, but you should be able to attach the image without referrin
to another location. It lets you browse the file and locate it but whe
you preview or post, it doesnt include the image!

The IMG bit you are talking about is different from what I am talkin
about. The IMG bit allows you to refer to a URL. eg you might have a pi
on a web server somewhere or under your free web space with your isp
There is a browse button that you press to attach an image, but it jus
won't show it when you preview or post it!!!

OK, I worked it out. The pic has to be smaller than 600 x 600. What yo
have to do is edit the pic down to size. Then attach. So what do yo
think of my rig?? Trek 5900 Custom Formula 1 paint job All D/A Does no
weigh much at all!

Its really bad form to post binaries to a non binaries newsgroup
and some ISP's won't allow it.

This is a good idea though, why not start a yahoo group
this would allow a photo gallery

AFAIK, this newsgroup (like many) are non-binary - that means it's a
no-no to attach ANY files to a posting.

As well as that, a lot of news servers (such as mine) will strip off any
attached files that are included in a post.

Which means that I don't get to see any attachments at all - not even
virii. 🙂

main stickers on the down tube

I'm gonna try sending a pic of one of my bikes. Let's see. I hav
reduced the size to 50% (Just below 600X600)

group. Attaching anything to a post is a big no no. It's likely to get
you reported to your ISP. It can lead to your account being canned. Do
not do it.

images, then why are there facilities to do so on the forum boards??? N

Don't try to divert attention from your stupidity. Binary newsgroups
invariably have "binary" in their name. If you'd done any homework at all
on Usenet etiquette you'd know that and also know that newsgroups are
presumed to be non-binary by default. Posting binaries to non-binary groups
is a clear breach of any reputable ISP's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and you
can lose your account by doing so. That, if nothing else, should persuade
you this is not a trivial matter.

DRS, you seem (I could be wrong) to be missing the point that "braso" is not
using Usenet at all. He/she is reading and posting to a web based forum on
cyclingforums.com. The forum is, for better or worse, gatewayed to this
news group. I think it is a bad idea because it leads to these types of
issues, but it happens regardless... "braso" may well not even know or care
what Usenet is.

BTW, I am posting this to Usenet and find web based forums a huge overhead
and only read a few that have content that is worth putting up with all the
advertising for!

You are correct - I apologise. It even says "Please read our USENET FAQ
before using this section!". I simply followed a link provided in an
earlier post in this thread into the middle of the "forum". I had not
checked what it looks like if you start at www.cyclingforums.com and
navigate in.

I didn't say it wasn't wrong. I was just saying that it is not *always*
annoying. If I am following a long thread and I've been reading it for a
while and know what is going on, it is *sometimes* nice to have the next
response just there when I open the post rather than having to scroll down
and find it. I agree that it is bad, and am not advocating anyone do it.
But, if you put smart (if correct) stuff in your footer you have to expect
people to take a shot at it occasionally ;-)
