  1. The latest diet craze has come from right here - Penn State U. As a
result of extensive studies done with large control groups, based on
solid theory, and reviewed by respected peers, professors of nutrition
have concluded that the most effective method for losing weight is - tah
dah! - eat less. This research was published only last week and it is
way too early to know if the method will shove all previous techniques
off the shelf. Will the idea sell? Will the fluffo plumpos of America
take to this radical new approach?

On a similar note, i.e., *my mom was right,* my own mother told me
repeatedly to eat the slimy smelly fish she put in front of me because
it was brain food. Guess what the latest scientific experiments
indicate? If that didn't make my mother roll over, at least she must be
    smirking.

    That can't be right.

Just wait for the Fagan Giant Jellyfish diet. :-)

Eating less, what a strange concept! ;-)

I was thinking about the scores of diet/light food brands on the
supermarket, as I couldn´t find the normal brands I am used to...

An aspect behind the creation of those kind of food is that the food
industry have no interest in people eating less. They must sell and we
    must eat.

I can't say that I like being called a "fluffo plumpo".

I'm battling my weight down with Weight Watchers and I'm not eating LESS,
I'm eating differently. Bulk! Fiber! Endless carrots and no-oil popcorn.
Whole grains and vegs. I presume then that eating "less" must mean less
    calories, not less bulk.

You can't expect the metabolic neanderthals to be able think outside the
    box.

Well, that wasn't as PC as it could have been. It's not only *big*
people who are treated more delicately. I used to be called
unmentionable words, but now, when the nurse puts the blood pressure
thing around my arm, she declares how small I am. Small? At 5'6"? As
euphemisms go, that's pretty pathetic. I take back the fluffo plumpo.
    Let's say pleasingly zaftig.

I think less means not only fewer calories, but simply less quantity of
    everything.

I rather like the image of a metabolic neanderthal, but I don't they had
boxes from which to think either inside or out. Outside the cave,
maybe? But that was major progress.

I recently saw a show on cave paintings in France, and when asked how the
painting was done, the French guide said that the artists ground up carbon
and other items in their mouths and then spit/blew the resulting mixture at
the cave walls. Makes you wonder how much of it they swallowed!
