New Lights - Ayup

Another fan here. These lights are awesome. A mate and I ordered the full kit together with an extra bar mount, helmet mount, charger and an extra 6 hr battery. With that at a total cost of around $460, we each got a bar mounted set (we mainly ride road), charger and 9 hours of battery capacity. They are unbelievably bright, and unlike the vistalights I had been using, when the batts start to run down, they just get progressively dim for around an hour - whereas the vistas would tunr brown and then totally switch off inside 3 minutes. These things small, lightweight, incredibly rugged. I have no doubt that a dedicated roadie kit will sell incredibly well, and its in the pipeline

I've been thinking about going halves with someone. I don't feel they are bright enough on their own for MTB racing, but as a backup/contrast light on the bars with a HID on the helmet they should be perfect :-).

I only want a 3 hour battery, so if someone else wants one unit and both the 3 and 6 hour batteries that'd be perfect.

I was very interested until I had a closer look at the Ayup system.

I was hoping to upgrade the LED emitters in them at a later stage but they
are sealed units so without an upgrade option I'll be better off making my
own.

DIY stuff can be fun especially when you can custom make thing to your own
needs !

I was a product tester for these lights when they were in 'pre-production' mode, and have been running them for a while.

I have tired everything, but cannot kill them.

I actually went in and saw Dan at Shifterbikes last week and scored a set of
sushi bars for the fixie and one of his last merino shifterbikes jerseys!!!
Have you discovered the fixie scene up there yet?? Still racing??

I weep for you MM. It's about 5 degrees when I go feed my horse - need gloves now when I mix up the feed and add water. Cold water and 5 degrees = numb white painful hands :-(

But I should get me some of these lights to wear on my head when I go feed her in the dark in the evenings now :p Does it void warranty if you aren't riding your bike (but still have them helmet mounted) and your 500kg horse crashes into them?

motivated since I got mine and at least two mornings a week I get up at
around 0430h for an hour and a half of riding before then doing my usual
50min or so commute to work.

Out of interest, what colour did you end up getting for the lights??

I just ordered the roady kit today, but I send a curse at the designer
of that website. YOU EVIL, EVIL [censored]! It's -awful-

(mine are blue, btw ,, I await them with anticipation)
