I felt the same way about the new Beetles for about a year. The design finally grew on me. And
we've had Elements in Boise for a while, and I've gotten over the shock of "look ma, a lunch box
on wheels!" I've gotten to like them, especially the cavernous room, Honda's utility and
reliability, and that they're designed to accomodate the outdoors crowd. Maybe I'm just tired of
the Sport Utility Beater old pickup, which really is impractical for decent road trips, and
starting to look around.

On the "beauty" of the Element ... I've got to admit that at first sight it was kind of strange.
Then it looked kind of "bread truck" to me, and grew on me a bit. Then, basically as it picked up
the old VW Van vibe, I started to liked it even more.

When you think about it (and I'm sure Honda has), the VW Van wasn't going to win any beauty contests
... not until the cuture surrounding the van made it beautiful.

We were actually talking about that last night, I was wondering if anybody takes their bike to
the dealer when they're looking to test drive a vehicle, and checks if the bike can fit in the
vehicle too.

I did exactly that when I bought a second-hand car about a month ago - took it for a test drive,
drove to my house and slung a bike in the back as well as a wheelbarrow. A tool should be suitable
for the purpose it is required (Invites for smart comments posted)

they probably folded the seat down to see if they could sleep in it too. We did that when we bought
our Explorer; you can sleep in an '01 but not in an '02.

I would. If I can't carry my bikes on it or in it, it isn't gonna work for
me. Especially if the vehicle is advertised to be a bike carrier.
