Hey, Hawki...this is not a "scientific ng", therefore,
"scientific facts"

Scientific facts have bearing on everything. They define the
truth about the nature of the universe. Understanding the
laws of nature and insisting that they apply to alternative
medicine like everything else is not closed minded. It is
rational. The human body is comprised of organs, tissues,
cells, and chemicals that work together in ways that we can
learn about and understand. Science is the most effective
way known to discover the truth about how our bodies are
constructed and how they function.
It is the alties who are closed-minded. They construct
fantasies that feel good about what therapies would "work,"
then collect the ever-available anecdotes to present as
"proof." When challenged that their notions contradict known
anatomical and physiological principles, they throw up their
anecdotes again, crying, "If it works for all these people,
science must be wrong, and you should be open-minded enough
to accept it!" What the alties don't understand, is that
anecdotal evidence will support ANY therapy. The shaman
shaking rattles to chase out evil spirits can collect a
horde of satisfied patients who will swear that they were
cured by him. That does not prove the efficacy of the
rattles, or the existence of the spirits, and an open mind
is not compelled to adopt shamanism. The "psychic surgeons"
who use the magician's arts of preparation, time shifting,
deception, and distraction to create the illusion of
removing "tumors" with their bare hands and without leaving
wounds or scars create not only believing witnesses, but
patients who will swear that they feel better than they have
in years after undergoing the procedure. But it is still a
trick and an open mind will admit it.
There are no "alternatives" that exist outside of
science. Scientific knowledge of the universe is not
complete, but the universe that exists is consistent, and
its nature and laws apply to every quark, atom, molecule,
cell, human, planet, star, and galaxy out to the red-
shifted margins of the begining of time. Aroma
therapists, homeopaths, and ginsing salesmen do not get
to make the rules. Nor violate them.
