  1. hi I am 23 years old and am interested in running just a few questions
    to get me started:

How many miles should I run the first day, and if it is a certain % how
long should I run these miles before advancing to the next level?

what time of the day is the best time for a newbie to start? (I wake up
at 5:00 am just about every morning)

I think it is going to be anywhere from 45° to mid 50°s in the
morning what should I wear in weather like this?

I want to run with weights, but is this a good thing to do just starting
out or do i need to work up to it?

what are the best shoes to run in?

How long should I wait after running before doing other work-outs?

    Thanks for the help

At least 20. The rest of your answers wil come to after the 20 miler.

  3. Start off slowly, walk-run for a few weeks and work your way up to
running for about 20-30 minutes every other day. When you get to that
point you can work on increasing speed and/or distance. IMHO running
with weights is not a good idea, but supplementing your running with a
weight training program is good. The best shoes to run in are the ones
that a knowledgable salesperson at a reputable running shoe store
recommends to you. 45-50 degrees I would wear shorts and a poly t-shirt
under a longsleeve cotton T for training, for a speed run lose the
    longsleeves.

  4. First of all, stop with the "newbie" title you've given yourself.

There are no newbies or veterans when it comes to jogging...........only
    dickweeds.

On the chance that you are not trolling, forget
mileage for the first few months and just try
to stay running for whatever amount of time you
are out for. If you want to run 20 minutes, try
to stay running for 20 minutes. That means, run
slowly enough that you can keep running the
    entire time.
