SD is probably Rancho Penasquitos (although it has lots of
tough parts available); also Sycamore Canyon in Santee
(though still messed up from fires last year).

Not sure what to suggest re. rentals; best bet probably the
Yellow Pages.

@$$. I shouldn't do that. Mountaing Bike Warehouse would be

If I am new to the sport as is clearly stated in the subject
, what is wrong with looking for trail without steep
uphills? I didn't say flat. As far as the ride down the
boardwalk great suggestion. Give me the address and I'll
make a detour to your Mom's house while I'm at it and she
could do the riding when I get there.
