  1. Snapped my collar bone 10 days ago. The goodnews has come today. Won't have to go under the knife.
Bad news can't use the arm out of the sling for 5 to 6 weeks. Only can remove the sling to shower.
    And can't ride at all.

Sorry to hear this. Leg press, stationary bike, any of these possible? Try your best to stay in
    shape and good luck.

Just kidding. ;^) Get a stationary trainer and you'll come out stronger than before you broke it.

Mike - Welcome to the collarbone club.

Sorry to hear that. I busted mine really well (along with a pack of ribs)in 2000, after a great
season or riding, road trips, racing, and then to come home to a very familiar trail, I just got
carried away. Slept in a recliner for about 4 months, almost went bankrupt, as it was hard to work,
and being self-employed without benefits, etc., but I got through it. Slowed me down big-time. And
    that is good.

You might get a chuckle out of this:

A belated welcome from me, as well. I broke my right distal clavicle on July 4. I also have a 1 cm
shoulder separation. I'm currently wearing an "immobilizer" which keeps my upper arm at my side
while allowing me to move the arm at the elbow. I'm not allowed to put any weight on that shoulder.

No riding since then, but I have my road bike on a trainer and tried it out a few times, today for
the longest. I've discovered that a saddle that's perfectly comfortable on the road is far from it
sitting straight up or leaning on just one arm.

My next appointment (with x-rays) with the orthopedist is Aug 14.

I've joined the "brokenbonesclub" on Yahoo groups. Not much discussion there, but it helps to vent.

If you haven't read my story, you can start at www.tahoebike.com and click on the Loon Lake/Rubicon
Jeep trail link to read about the trail. At the bottom is a link to the event.
