No More Ladies' Night....

I wonder if this will be the end of senior discounts, family
discounts, two-for-one, or other such discounts?

no more ladies' nights for the foreseeable future.

"I was puzzled," Chris Mourtos told BBC News Online.

"In 26 years of having ladies' nights on Wednesdays,
we have only ever had one complaint. One complaint -
and he won!"

He said that trying to balance the promotions was not
an option.

"We tried a guys' night years ago, but nobody turned up. No
women came so the guys didn't stick around."

This is a surprise to me. Until today, I had not heard about
this ruling ... and I live about a five minute drive from
the Coastline Bar in Cherry Hill. I have never been inside
that bar before, but I have passed by it many times; its

Senior discounts are granted by the Federal government.
Family discounts apply to certain large parties or
large orders - I've never seen one apply specifically
to husband/wife/2-kids.

(What isn't covered are youth discounts (movies, for
example). Nothing allows youth discounts and that should be
considered age discrimination as well).

Federal law prohibits gender discrimination. I think such a
ruling is just and should be applied Federally.

elderly. Heck, they even give them money (Social Security).

Still, the ladies night seems more arbitrary. Granted,
they're trying to bring in more chicks to attract to paying
men, but I still don't think it would stand up in court.

Could an apartment complex get away with giving rental
discounts to women only?

Yeah - I guess so. That *should* be discrimination, too.
Seems white, male Americans are the minorities nowdays. At
least as far as benefits so.

Depends on how they present the case, I guess. There's a lot

The Federal government gives priority to small, female
owned and minority owned businesses when bidding to
provide products or services. Sure helped when my business
was bidding.
