Dave Moore said:Hi All,
I'm expecting to get away for a week or so do to some walking at the end
of March and in my usual unorganised manner I've not decided what area to
head for. I should imagine that there'll be quite a lot of snow about on
higher ground and I don't want to use anything more technical than crampons.
Has anybody got any suggestions for areas with a few lowish technical
munros?.
Ta,
Dave
Well - with the usual proviso that we're talking about Scotland and it's
unpredictable weather patterns, there are very few munros which require
anything more than ownership and experience of crampons and ice axe.
Snow usually dissappears from the South and West first. Therefore, you
might want to think about Glen Lyon, where there are many to choose from
and there are no particularly dangerous slopes. Then there are all the
hills around Crianlarich.
Slightly further North the whole of the Black Mount is easily
accessible, though you might want to re-consider the (other, not so
famous) Aonach Eagach.
Just a few ideas. Best keep an eye on weather conditions and check out
any trip reports nearer the time.
