  1. My new frame (Van Nicholas Chinook - http://www.vannicholas.com)
appears to have plain non-threaded cable mounts on the headtube,
instead of the threaded cable adjusters I was expecting.

Anyone know how I'm supposed to fit my Campag Chorus 2007 groupset to
    this frame?

Am I missing something (physically or mentally 🙁

If you're running Chorus, you don't need them. The RD has an adjuster
to dial in the rear indexing, and the front isn't indexed. Just set
your limit screws, pull the cable taut with a pair of pliers, bolt it
down, and you're good to go.

If you really need an adjuster, Jagwire (among others) make inline
ones you can put anywhere along the housing. But with Chorus, you
really don't need one. Having them on the downtube just encourages you
to fiddle with them while riding, which rarely helps.

OK - What about the same question when you do have an indexed front
    brifter like an Ultegra triple?

Like I said - inline adjusters, like Jagwire makes. Some of them fit
into the brifter-side housing stop for a more built-in look. Stop by
most LBSes, and you'll see bikes with these installed.

Then you need a inline cable adjuster. Ugly, but no problem.

As Mr Wirtz' paragraph (just above yours) notes, the Jaguar inline
adjuster is perfect for that application, $10/pair.

....but to come back to the actual frame in question: the website
    states

"CNC machined & slotted integrated shifter cable guides with
    8-point detent"

and the pictures show what looks like a standard Shimano adjustment
screw in there. Which needs an M5 threading to work. Would the
"8-point detent" be suitable to hold an M5 nut?

Ferrule onto end of cable housing, this into the cable stop...adjuster
on the RD, FD adjusters for any system are not needed.

Not needed. Set the start position of the FD along with alignment,
check same with chain on middle ring, big cog, small cog. If the chain
to cage clearances are not the same with these combos, change the
limit screw when in small ring...when you start screwing adjsters in
and out, you change the start position of the FD which changes the FD
positions in middle and big ring...not needed.

Sorry I missed that. Yes any M5 adjuster. If you have a Shimano lockring
on that adjuster it will fit the detents - no particular advantage to
that either way. Your Campagnolo adjusters fit too.

Well, the OP misses the threading...seems the vendor missed to cut
them. Threading himself might be the easiest solution, though Ti is
    hard to works...

In my opinion, if there are bosses without threads but with detents it's
    defective and should be exchanged.

I mean nonthreaded bosses may have been intentional but not with locknut
detents on them. That's illogical, hence defective.

Wish I knew more, sounds weird so far.

Agreed. Question is if sending back and forth is more effort than
cutting threads yourselve...which might be very individual. I'd
always require the vendor to accept the defect and then might agree
    on a solution...
