Well. Looking through the Google archives the other day, I discovered
that it's a year since my first post here. This set me thinking about
the last year and what has happened during those 12 months.
So... in no particular order.
I've learnt about recumbents.
I've ridden recumbents.
I've built a recumbent.
I've (for the first time) met people that I know from online.
I've learnt the strange relationship between bib-tights and paving slabs.
I've ranted about a number of subjects, both on and off-topic.
I've been ranted at about a number of subjects, both on and off-topic.
I've changed driving style (Partly a consequence of discussion here, and
partly through increased time spent on the road).
I've changed cycling style to be more assertive and have seen a
proportional decrease in the number of close shaves I have.
I've got and used an Airzound.
I've sworn at a phenomenal number of drivers.
I've discovered the joys of going every where by train and trying to
take a bike with me.
I've learnt about Audaxes.
I've ridden an Audax.
I've set my mind on achieving a stupidly long Audax in the near future.
I've been camping for the first time since cubs.
I've done my damnedest to convert friends and relatives to using bikes
instead of cars.
I've joined a volunteer bike repair organisation.
I've been on a critical mass.
I've got angry about the lack of penalties for bad driving.
I've built a fixer.
I've learnt to trackstand the fixer.
I've been MTBing once and despite a desire to go again, haven't found
the time.
I've fitted a wicker basket to the recumbent, making me the second
person in the world with the Hembrow recumbent basket.
I've discovered how much time it's possible to waste while reading and
responding to posts.
I've seen new people arrive.
I've seen some of the same people leave.
.... and come back again.
I've been made welcome (Within certain tolerances!).
I've had fun.
Still here. Probably not going anywhere for a while at least. Thanks
everyone.
Jon
P.S. I've almost certainly forgotten a few things, I was composing part
of this list while cycling home and the odd "incident" distracted me!
