What's the big deal about clipping five nails?

I know you know this, Barb, but it was 5 cats x 18 nails per cat. Took a
    wee bit of time. :-)

i'm not a mathematician, but it sounds like you have some deformed
    cats.

    your pal,
    blake

You "might" be a mathematician, but you clearly don't know cats. :-) Cats
have 5 claws on their front paws and 4 claws on their rear paws. That
makes a total of 18, and they are not deformed.

There are some cats that have more toes (and claws) than that, but they are
    anomalies.

The groomer probably smelled of rodent, Petco sells lots of rodents.

Why pray tell would anyone ever bring a pet cat to a groomer? I could
see perhaps a long haired show cat just prior to an event, but
    Petco???

Just for a nail clip. They were cheap and close by. And most groomers
don't do cats. She once had a flea bath there too. I opted to take her
there because she could be out of the house long enough for me to bomb
    the house.

My cats get brushed once, even twice a day... they also groom each
other better than any Petco groomer can, and Blackie is the ear man,
he grooms all their ears, cleaned better than a vet can... If I had a
tongue as talented as Blackie's the gals would be lined up.

The groomer didn't do any brushing. I can do that. Just needed a
pedicure. And AFAIK, the groomers there only do the grooming. It's in a
    separate area from the store.

One of cats has such long hair that we have her clipped at a groomer about
4 tims a year. This cost is $55. If we also have her nails clipped (and
    buffed), that's an addition $15.

They do an excellent job on both.

nope. but 4.5 claws per paw? i'm pretty sure a cat has four legs.

i'll concede that cats maybe better than dogs because you're almost
always bigger and stronger than a cat, but giving them the possibility
of ganging up on you seems downright foolish.

The "flying fur" made me think about the thread about finding a hair in the
    food.

In our house there's always bound to be cat hair in the kitchen, but before
cooking I wipe down every counter, the glass top range, and wipe out the
pots if they haven't been covered with a lid.

Yikes. I can't imagine being that fastidious. We have a little framed
cartoon in our kitchen, a gift from my mother. The tagline: "Cat hair
is considered a condiment in this house."

Cindy's co-worker and her husband have four Persians. Cat hair must be
    a staple of their diet.

Of our 5 cats, only 2 of them tend to frequent the kitchen counters and
they are both short-haired cats. It's not much of a problem.
