I'm taking this opportunity, while Crash is sleeping and I'm not, to use his computer to let y'all know that I'm on a short leave of absence against my will. Last Thursday, I spilled half a can of diet cola into my keyboard, and can now only type i, 0, 2, 3, 6. 8, and 9 on my computer. I'm reading the group, but can't respond to posts or to e-mail.
Anywho, I should be back in a couple weeks. Enjoy your holiday! 😄

You'll have to devise a code! If we see a line of 0000000 ROFL, 2222222222 could be THWACK! etc....

That sucks Dams - BTDT. But luckily we got so much 'puter junk around here I can usually find another one that (almost) works. Hope you can get a replacement soon. -- Cheers Chatty Cathy

Keyboard: $20.00. Should be take up a collection for you? You can even plug one into the back of your laptop, if that's what you're using.

If you consider the keyboard stuffed, then you can pull the keys off (one at a time so you don't mix the positions <smile>😉 and use warm water in a squeeze bottle to wash the sticky stuff out and then dry the board in the sun. It may work.
Of course do this with it not plugged into the 'puter <grin>

No, literally. Two bucks.

Carol, if you have a Big Lots near you... they sell keyboards "cheap".

Happy Labor Day. Don't go into labor without us.

I've never paid less than $27.00 for a good, NEW board...
but that is still affordable. My last one lasted 6 years, and that was with minor abuse. It still mostly works. I put it away as backup for this one.
I try to keep them dusted out and I keep drinks away from the keyboard for the most part. -- Peace, Om

It seems as though I have an extra keyboard or two around here. I could send one of them to her, if she wants it. Every time I buy a new computer, they send a new keyboard with it, and I keep using my old keyboard. Although I like new things, I hate change. I am complicated. lol
I got one for the grandkids computer for about 12 bucks at Walmart the last time they toasted one.
Found one at WalMart for $20.00. Will be picking it up shortly. We tried cleaning the old one, but it couldn't be salvaged.
In the meantime, I'll probably be away until October. We're in the process of evicting one of our roommates, and it's already getting ugly. I expect to be pretty stressed out until he is gone, gone, gone. No good deed goes unpunished.

Heh. True dat. Good luck with it. I have a co-worker that had a relative that let a Katrician couple stay in her rent house for free.

Keyboard Kondom!
Should have gotten this years ago... but finally figured a good idea once I went to a more expensive wireless keyboard... not only keeps all fluids and crumbs out but pet hair too. It keeps your keyboard like brand new, letters don't even wear. Takes no more than a few hours to get used to, takes a day or two to fully seat itself and then it's like it's not even there, you don't even see it. It can be wiped off with a damp paper towel or easily removed for a quick rinse and put back. I highly recommend using a keyboard kondom with every keyboard, even if you have a cheapie or got the keyboard for free... it's just so much neater.
Too bad they don't make real condoms so well... but you need to remember these are custom fitted for each particular keyboard... now there's a business for you, Custom Tailored Condoms by Om Industries... of course you'll need to produce and archieve all the molds... every one personally tested and satisfaction guaranteed by Om herself! 😉

Thank you for the idea. I agree it would be a good - especially for cat fur:<😉, so I went to the site. Shall I assume the one they offer <Product Name: Keyboard Cover Part #: KBP-Clear Price: $14.95> will fit my ordinary DELL keyboard? Is the material so flexible that it will just mold to what I have? Thanks for any information. I know it's just $14.95 but I still want it to work.
