Cloudy now (Norwich) I was going to take a trip to the coast but I am not going to bother unless the
sky clears.

It's clear out in the countryside - just been out again - it's quite lovely. Vernon took the camera
out & tried some long exposure shots - will be interesting to see if anything is captured on film.
Got a phonecall from a friend who runs an astronomy centre up in North Norfolk to tell me to get out
there and see the aurora - just as I was about to ring him with the same message :-)

Just went out again. It is quite, quite lovely. Pale green auroral bands, ghostly snakes, getting
brighter then dimming then brightening - snaking curtains.. It is eerie yet beautiful.

Reads like a *bite* to me :-)) Seriously though, it's cloudy here in Leicestershire, and I'd trade
an otter sighting for a glimpse of an aurora, even though I reckon I'm ahead of Bill Oddie on otter

No, I saw it as well. It's all down to these two massive sunspots groups that ejected a large
amount of gear from the sun in our direction a couple of days ago.

If you want otter ticks the Sleat peninsula on Skye is the place to be. Where we stayed in July we
saw an otter 5 out of 7 days and a couple of sightings at other parts of Sleat. The best sighting I
got was while I was sitting on some rocks on the shore looking at the otter about 20 meters away and
in the same view through the binoculars some porpoises swam past.
