There shouldn't be any cheerleaders in hockey, that's just wrong...

Just what the NHL needs, a team with no market...

Ah. Used to go to Caps games a hundred years ago. Lost interest after
moving to west coast in early '80s. (Same with pro basketball. Can't watch
more than about three minutes of it.)

Bill "never heard of half the /teams/ much less the players" S.

I somehow figured I'd get a response from
    (Canadian) you.

Half the Raleigh/Cary area residents are Yankee
transplants. "Small market" yes, "no market" no.
However, the small market will definitely get bigger
after the Cup win. Karmanos, the owner, isn't a
dumb business man for bringing the team here.

Redneck hockey is here to stay.

Yes, he is a smart bidness man. Now can you tell him to get rid of all the
geritol drinking guys on his team??

Yes I know, it's hard for some die-hard fans, especially up
north, to take that the Cup is in Raleigh. They'll just have
to wait 'til next season! 🙂

  10. I am a firm believer that a city that doesn't see ice as a natural weather
phenomenon should NOT have an NHL franchise. That they might win the cup is
blasphemy. At least it wasn't a California or Florida team ;-)

I had several Canucks visiting my eastern Washington locale last week for
windsurfing and biking. On Saturday we hunted down a pizza pub in the town
of Goldendale, WA that would allow us to turn on game 7 in return for
buying, -you got it-, pizza and beer. Some tough decision. We watched our
favorite Oilers go down, but Hell, it was a great game and a Cinderella
story. I guess our best consolation is that most of the players hail from
    north of the border anyways.

Some of the locals even showed an interest, although most just seemed
baffled at how we could get so caught up in something that wasn't basketball
    or football.

  12. The Hurricanes, fan or not, played a great series,
especially with Buffalo and Edmonton, with both
    going to game 7.
