SCOTUS has ruled that the police have no legal obligation to protect you.
They are there to pick up the pieces, call the coroner and cleanup team,
and hope they can cash in on the less than 10% chance that they can
actually catch the perp.

You can not sue the police for failing to protect you, providing you
even survive to try it.

Agreed. I consider it to be your inalienable right to keep and bear
arms. It is my personal choice not to. I believe "gun control"
should consist of good aim. :^)

All kidding aside, here's my $0.02 on fire arms. I think gun
registration is non-productive and for all intents and purposes
useless as a crime prevention measure. I believe any competent
person without a violent criminal history should be allowed to own a
gun. However, I believe that all gun owners should secure their
firearms when they are not in direct control or supervision of them.
That should be enough to keep most kids from blowing their friends'
heads off without unnecessarily encumbering gun owners.

Again, that's just my opinion.

The pitbull "problem" has decreased in my city since they enacted a
spay/neuter policy a couple of years ago, according to the local
newspaper.... which I find unbelievable (criminals aren't well know
for obeying the law), but statistics at the animal shelter prove it's
really working.

town with car doors unlocked and windows down.... without packing any

Perhaps life is more dangerous out there in the country (where
everyone runs to for safety) than it is here in the city.

We all have fears. For some people it's the threat of getting
robbed and/or raped. Fort some people it's crossing bridges or
going through tunnels.

For me, it's getting to work and realizing I forgot to wear

They are illegal in the province I live in. You can not buy, import, sell
or breed them. Existing pit bulls must be kept fenced in or else muzzled
and on a leash.

My next door neighbour had two of them and used to let them run loose. I
never objected because they always behaved themselves. The younger one used
to come over and visit us whenever we were outside and he went on walks
with us when we took our dogs. He was a friendly little guy, but you can't
trust those things. They have a reputation for unprovoked attacks. When the
neighbour moved a few weeks ago he asked us..... several times... to take
the young one. He said he spent more time at our house than at theirs.
Sorry, but I already have two dogs and I don't want one that I can't trust.
He wound up being taken to the pound, and since they cannot be given away
he has probably been euthanized.

I live in a country where hand guns are severely restricted. There are not
places where I am afraid to walk.

Some people live their whole lives in fear and cannot get thru the day
without guns and pepper spray. What a pitiful way to live one's life.

The problem is those starry eyed people who just can't acknowledge that
they just might own cujo (very similar to parents who have rotten kids but
are in denial).

Yep. Put them in jail. No differentiating between drug dealers who know
their dogs are mean, and "regular people" who are clueless. 20 years behind
bars for all of them.

10 years for any law enforcement person (cops, animal control people,
judges) who stand in the way of a vicious dog being put down ASAP.
