Most will play the RA back and recode it. You want streambox ripper to
rip it. Its hard to find, but it is out there. Mail me if you have
trouble.

It outpouts to wav and only works in real time, however there is
nothing to stop you from running multiple instances so long as your
internet bandwidth can support it. 7 instances runs well on a 1MB ADSL
link.

Looks like it does the same as http://audacity.sourceforge.net does, but
not completely free. The problem I was trying to solve is that when
recording off the sound-card in real-time any process that decides to
wake up and consume cpu causes a slight blip in the audio stream, you
get micro-second jumps in the recording. So I was after a non-real-time
format converter instead.

Tried that a few days ago, it put a half-second beat into the mp3
output, for no obvious reason. Looked for it again (having deleted it in
disgust) and the version I now find doesn't support ra. Ho hum.

However, what I want to do is extract a track from a two-hour
pre-Christmas Peel show Net Transported from the BBC (oops shouldn't
have revealed that), where my editor won't read ra. I don't have enough
terabytes for a wav recoding...

Claims to do something different from ezaudiorecorder and audacity but
it's not obvious that it wouldn't have the same problem.

Ho hum, I'll try switching off every redundant process I can find. It's
a shame - recording directly off the sound-card in the background would
be neat.

It was, "Listen again" works only for a week. It's also 28Mb and
copyright...

I was going to suggest I ran it through my Mac. I've done that
conversion before.

28MB is nothing these days. Couple of seconds download for me. ;-)

Hmm, just tried it and it took 17 mins to upload, which is about 17 days
faster than I would have assumed. Things have been creeping up on me, I
remember when you could see the packets bulging out the wire...
