Mine was senior year in high school, Christmas 1969, and it was a
second-hand raccoon coat my mother bought for $25 in a thrift shop.
Those were the days when all us hippy and would-be hippy girls dreamed
of wearing ratty old fur coats with our hair long and ironed straight.

I think it was the most lavish present I ever received from my mother.
She had me close my eyes, then she fetched it from the neighbors' where
she'd stashed it, and she tossed it over me (remember, my eyes were
closed), fur-side down. It took me more than a few seconds to figure
out what had happened. ;-) She kept asking me if I liked it because I
was so stunned. I never expected to get anything that nice that I
wanted that much. I named it Rocky, of course. :)

My first dog, when I was 9 - one that a neighbor had had and I had loved for
several years as if he were my own, they let him spend the night with me
every so often, and I used to walk him every day after school. When their
son went away to college the dog was 5, and they arranged with my parents to
give him to me for Christmas. He was a toy manchester terrier, and lived to
be 15. That was many years ago but seeing him run into the house (the
neighbors had put him over the fence into our yard) that Christmas morning
with a big red bow around his neck is as clear in my mind as if it were
yesterday.

Oh, that's a wonderful story! :) What a great Christmas present!

long they would last

HAHA, about as long as my "reindeer antler" experiment did a couple of years
ago... :)

Sherry, I was just looking at the recipes off your webpage (btw, what
does TnT mean?), and I saw a reference to coconut FLOUR. I don't think
I've heard of coconut flour, as opposed to shredded coconut. Where do
you get it?

due to descend this afternoon

Speaking of cats and bows: Priscilla, did you see this website that
somebody posted a couple of days ago? What a HOOT!

TnT is Tried'n'True :)

I buy the shredded unsweetened coconut from one of my suppliers, then I
grind it into flour myself but you can get coconut flour online - just
googled it and came up with
http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/coconut_flour.htm ...
http://www.lowcarbnexus.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/201 ...
http://www.simplycoconut.com/coconut_flour.htm .

I have a few more recipes for dishes that I've created and need to add but
haven't had the time. Hopefully soon :).

Anyone know who to make LC coconut shrimp? I finally got my hands on my
shredded unsweetened coconut but don't really know what to do with it.

I'm on a very limited budget so we have coconut fish :). I mix the coconut
with some nut - usually pecan - meal (about 3 parts coconut - I don't
measure), and coat my fish in it after dipping in beaten egg, then I drop it
in the deep fryer with the oil at about 425ºF. We love it!
